Development Journal | New Doctrine Features
11/09/2022

Hey everyone! In this development journal, we'll be discussing doctrines and the changes we have in store for them. We're hoping that this change make doctrines realize our initial intentions: to provide more varied gameplay and battles.

Naturally, the most important thing is to make the game fun.

No Longer Fun

We've heard plenty of players voice these opinions about doctrines:

"I finally managed to get a 10x draw, and all I got was trash!"

"Others can take 3 T5 units but I'm stuck with 2!"

Your feedback has helped us realize that the power difference between doctrines is too large and that they're too difficult to acquire. So much so that many Warlords find the entire system off-putting. Our initial design intention was for everyone to be able to use doctrines at a fairly level playing field and for them to create more variety in battle.

Going forward, our core idea is that "efforts must be rewarded." We want everyone to have a fun time growing their units and that effort gives an equal measure of reciprocation. That's why we're combining the core content of each season: Battle Pass, Seasonal Units, Territory War & Doctrine Acquisition.

A New Way of Getting Doctrines

Starting with the new season, we'll provide a new way for you all to earn doctrines. You'll be able to exchange the new season's item [Daybreak Seal] from the Exchange (X) menu for the doctrines you want.

What doctrines can I get this way?

You'll be able to exchange 1 [Daybreak Seal] for 1 epic doctrine. The types available will be based on the season's phase, and the new doctrines that will be available are: [Epic Leadership Doctrine], [Epic Sword Doctrine IV], [No Quarter], [Epic Lance Doctrine II], [Epic Lance Doctrine III], [Epic Melee Cavalry Doctrine], [Epic Crossbow Doctrine III], [Epic Arquebus Doctrine] and [Epic Archery Doctrine V].

How many [Daybreak Seals] can I get?

1. You'll be able to get 2 every season.

2. The acquisition cap of [Daybreak Seals] resets with each season.

How do I get these seals?

1. You can get one [Daybreak Seal] by getting rank 100 in the season's [Hero's Road] (the free part).

2. And you can get one by completing the fifth stage of the season's 5-star unit challenge. Progress toward this only counts toward the 5-star unit of the current season.

3. [Daybreak Seals] are retained over seasons. So, you can always stock up on some to get a head start in a new season.

By combining our seasonal content, you should have clearer goals to work toward for rewards while also giving you the chance to experience more of each new season's content.

New Doctrine Fusion

Have you ever found yourself opening your inventory only to see it full of doctrines, few of which are usable? Apart from taking up bag space, low-level, duplicates or old doctrines don't serve any purpose. And so, we present you with the new Doctrine Fusion system. This should give you a new use for your old doctrines that are simply gathering dust.

What is doctrine fusion?

In doctrine fusion, you will be using your old unwanted doctrines to create new ones. For example, if you've got a couple of resource doctrines in your inventory but you don't really gather on the world map, then you can use these to create a completely new doctrine. Or, if you've got plenty of rare and uncommon ones just gathering dust, you can use these to create a new one.

But what's important is: the doctrines you create cannot be gained from Treatises.

Must I use doctrines to perform fusions?

We know just how difficult it can be to get doctrines, so we've added a new item type: Doctrine Reagents. If you've got doctrines you don't want to part with, you can use Doctrine Reagents of an equal quality as materials in their place, thereby earning more powerful doctrines.

How do I get fusion materials?

There are plenty of ways to acquire Doctrine Reagents, such as matchmaking battles, Territory War, events, raising your Conqueror's Path rank, and the Fame Treasury. By not making it buyable in the stores, we want to encourage you all to earn it during your daily battles and conquests.

We're really excited about this new system, though, we're also worried that there's something we've missed or not thought of. We'll keep an eye on community feedback and continue to iterate on doctrine fusion going forward to ensure an as great experience as possible. Oh, and don't be shy with your feedback!

What's more, considering that some of you may not have kept either treatises or doctrines so that you can't try out the new feature when it drops, we've prepared a gift awaiting you all in the new season: simply login on enough days once the season hits to earn 50 treatises, and join the event that reduces the consumption of Doctrine Water. Keep an eye on future notices for more detailed information.
