[Highlanders] Season Patch Notes12/20/2021
Plot
Two kingdoms make the island of Celtland their home. The Celtlish live in the northern highlands and the Wealish in the south. Under Edmund I's rule, Wealand has recently grown in might, and he has set his eyes on his northern neighbor. The Celtlish are in turmoil as their old heirless king recently passed, and so lords are vying for power, leaving them defenseless against the Wealish invasion.
Though, the Highlanders aren't a people that simply bow down and surrender. They care nothing for lords and status. They will make anyone who dares invade their land pay for their folly, in blood. This is vital to the war's outcome in this war of destiny.
Season Units
3 new units will be available this season and they can be unlocked by completing their corresponding [Challenges]. Seasonal bonuses are in effect for these units.
Seasonal Bonuses:
Requires 10 less Leadership.
Resupply cost is reduced by 50%.
Bagpipers
Star Level: ★★★
Background Info:
The sounds of bagpipes resound throughout the Celtlish highlands. The people dance and laugh to the tunes, but some songs also bring sadness and tears. When the Celtlish was forced into war, the Bagpipers didn't cower in fear, instead, they joined the revolt.
The Bagpipers will play music during battle. Allies hearing their tunes will be able to tap into greater power, and perhaps that might be what turns the tide.
Any enemy who hears their music when they thought victory was nigh is bound to howl in frustration.
Unit Characteristics:
• By playing music they provide allies within a certain range with various buffs to aid them in battle.
○ A buff increasing all types of attacks.
○ A buff increasing all types of defenses.
○ They grant extra buffs depending on which melody they are playing.
• They can move while performing, but slower than usual.
• They do not carry weapons and cannot fight. Using the [Attack] command while they are not performing will tell them to avoid the enemy.
Claymores
Star Level: ★★★★
Background Info:
Celtland is famed for its spirits, ballads, and warriors. And the Claymores are considered the mightiest of their warriors. These stalwart fighters carry two-handed blades crafted by renowned swordsmiths and wield them with deadly ferocity.
These Claymores are most known for the Battle of Gallows Hill. At the time, the leader of the Celtlish revolt, Rupert, was being chased by Wealish soldiers as he hurried northward to request the aid of the tribes there. But the Wealish cavalry was hot on his heels and the situation was dire. A group of Claymores tasked with escorting Rupert volunteered to stay behind and buy him time enough to escape.
They held the Wealish soldiers at bay for a whole hour, which was enough for Rupert to flee and request aid. When the reinforcements arrived, they were met with a nightmarish scene: the corpses of all the thirty Claymores, along with dead foes many times their numbers.
Henceforth, the Claymores' bravery and loyalty became known throughout Celtland and Wealand, the former hailing them as mighty warriors whereas the latter talked about them only in hushed whispers.
Unit Characteristics:
• They do best when fighting together with other units and can buff themselves.
• To get the most out of them you must use their skills differently depending on the situation.
• Some of their skills greatly increase their survivability and damage, but also come with side effects.
Houndsmen
Star Level: ★★★★★
Background Info:
Many are the legends about the deep northern forests of Celtland. One of the most well-known is one where Wealish soldiers vanished without a trace. Before the revolt had begun, the Wealish often terrorized villages near the forests, and some made the mistake of entering. Those that did, were never seen again.
A Wealish search party was sent to follow their tracks. And found something they did: the bloodied, mangled bodies of their former comrades. Their chests were riddled with arrows, and they had bite marks everywhere. The Celtlish who believed in Druidism claimed the Wealish had been punished by the spirits of the forest. Naturally, the Wealish didn't believe in such nonsense and scoured the forest for many an hour—finding nothing of note. Following this incident, the Wealish forbade their men from setting foot within the forest.
What transpired there remained in mystery until the war began. Bows at their backs, a group of hunters and their fierce hounds emerged from the forest hinterlands and joined the army against Wealish invaders. They were master marksmen who fought alongside their well-trained canine friends. They came to bring the Wealish nothing but pain and death.
Following the war, the historians later wrote about their exploits when recording down the events that transpired, and named them the Houndsmen.
Unit Characteristics:
• High rate of shooting for big damage and a short bleed.
• Their agile hounds interrupt the enemy and slow them down.
• When hunters and their hounds attack together, they deal greater damage.
○ Joint Attack: Makes the enemy take more damage.
○ Hamstring: Makes it difficult for the enemy to move.

World Map & Territory War Improvements
Territory War - Fief Battles
We are extending the initial battle duration for all fief battles in Territory War. Towns and forts now start with 20 minutes, and villages with 15 minutes. We are also reducing the time extension upon occupying the central fief to 10 minutes.
After looking at statistics, we have decided to tune down the effect Territory War battles have on fiefs. Now, every time the central fief changes hands, the fief will lose 10 Prosperity. If a fief changes hands, the fief will lose 35 Prosperity.
During war rallies and when defending a fief owned by regional lords, regional lords will now leave more of the fighting opportunities to those of the Imperial Restorationists.
Fief Construction
We are also making adjustments to the materials required to upgrade and maintain fiefs: compared to previous seasons, fiefs will require fewer materials with the reduction differing for different levels. Materials required to maintain a fief will be reduced for lower fief levels and increased for higher levels.
Fiefs will now start with an initial level of 4-7.
Fief Quest Changes
We are changing the required resources and rewards for fief quests in the Highlanders season. Region capitals will provide fief quests aimed at helping lower-level Warlords grow. Warlords on the World Map will be able to use fief quests to upgrade lower-level fiefs quicker than before, whereas high-level fiefs will provide quests with richer rewards. Fief quests will also ask for a greater variety of resources than previously. We advise you to choose quests based on your own and your house's ability.
Stay tuned for later patch notes for more detailed info on Fief Quests.
Rapid March
The ability to use Rapid March will now be available on the World Map.
Using this will increase movement speed by 1.2 times, however, food consumption will double. You will no longer be able to sustain Rapid March once out of food.
