Update Announcement – Northmen Season
03/17/2021

Season Map

Heilung Fjord

Guthorm found a perfect harbor on Vajk's Lake in Ungverija. There he erected walls and created for his warriors a castle upon the water. A place for them to rest and train. The Yatti royals send their armies upward along the Sadi River as the snows began to melt. They launched a counter attack against the foreign invaders who had ensconced themselves upon the land.

Map Balance Changes

Augolia Siege

The attackers currently have a difficult time on Augolia as it is difficult to maintain offense, leading to them having a rather low win rate. Thus, we have added a supply point for the defenders which can be occupied, enabling the attackers to spawn nearby and increase their reinforcements.

Sun City Siege

The terrain of Sun City is incredibly open and the two sides spawn quite far away from each other. This has led to the attackers having much ground to play with, making it easy to use mobility as an advantage. This has made it difficult for the defenders to attain victory, and the attackers' win rate has remained consistently high. Thus, we have adjusted the reward times for capturing A and B for the attacker down to 2 minutes (was 3). High mobility is still encouraged, but with this change the tolerance for error is smaller.

Level Improvements

Siege Battle Levels

To improve the gameplay experience of the attacking side during matchmaking siege battles, we have added a safe spawn point near the attackers' base during each stage. Players may opt to spawn here, however, we have not made any changes to the default spawn points at the front lines.

Tutorial Levels

Resolved some known bugs of the tutorial map to improve the overall experience. Changes mainly involve the following:

1. Added voice over to the NPC Rupert in the weapon tutorial.

2. A weapons guide will now be displayed for the weapon you are using when battling against the NPC Rupert in the weapon tutorial.

3. Reduced the number of Dummies during the cavalry tutorial and adjusted their placements. This should make it easier for the various weapons.

4. Improved the UI info display of the weapon tutorial. Overhead NPC info will no longer be shown through walls, and the minimap menu has been closed.

5. Resolved an issue where the player could interact with the Weapon Rack while mounted.

6. Resolved an issue where the Sprint button would sometimes be displayed incorrectly.

7. Resolved an issue where mounting the walls on the Augolia tutorial map from a Siege Tower would sometimes make it impossible to destroy the walls.

8. Improved the supply point inside the walls on the Augolia tutorial map.

9. Added a new [Practice Makes Perfect] quest to the tutorial which asks you to complete Training Camp matches.

Stage Bug Fixes & Improvements

1. Resolved an issue where it was possible to mount near some of the walls in the tavern of [Turul Város].

2. Resolved an issue where no sound was played when pushing Battering Rams on the [Lesser Greenpeak] and [The Storehouse] maps.

3. The loading screens of all maps have been replaced with a non-snow filled version related to the season.

Season Units

3 new units will be available this season and they can be unlocked by completing their corresponding [Challenges]. Seasonal bonuses are in effect for these units but they are only allowed to don specially customized attires.

Seasonal Bonuses:

 Requires 10 less Leadership

 Resupply cost is reduced by 50%

Fenrir's Pack

Star Level: 3

The Fenrir's Pack are highly nimble and mobile, enabling them to quickly traverse the field of battle to launch deadly attacks against the enemy's ranged troops. Though, they have fairly low armor and should when possible avoid lengthy contact with enemy forces.

Odin's Berserkers

Star Level: 4

Odin's Berserkers may wield their bear-like strength to crush the enemy's defensive lines. They gain rage by killing enemies, and as it peaks, they become fearless in the face of death. They also tap into that rage to crush all in their path.

Sigrun's Shieldmaidens

Star Level: 5

Sigrun's Shieldmaidens carry spears, longswords, and round shields and undergo harsh training day in and day out. This has enabled them to quickly switch between offense and defense in the heat of battle. With their solid shield formation they defend against the enemy's attacks.

Hero Balance Changes & Improvements:

Shortsword & Shield

Ideas for Changes:

Based on player feedback and gameplay data, the Shortsword & Shield skill [Ironsides] is currently performing better than expected. As such we are adjusting it, giving it a better balance of risk and profit.

Changes:

. [Ironsides]: Once its defense buff runs out, you will be weakened for 4 seconds, reducing the hero's defence by 15%.

. Increase the block break of basic attacks.

Longsword & Shield

Ideas for Changes:

The Longsword & Shield currently has too low damage output and so we are raising the damage its skills deal.

Changes:

. [With Valour]: Increase each attacks' base damage by 10%.

. [Paladin]: Replaced its slow effect. Enemies hit instead have their defence reduced by 15% for 6 seconds.

. [Shield Bash]: Increase each attacks' block break by 150.

. [Sally Forth]: The final attack knocks enemies back in a small range.

. Increase the block break of basic attacks.

Glaive

Ideas for Changes:

Glaive is currently a fairly well-rounded profession and is highly versatile. However, its damage against units is slightly worse than what we would like, and so we are doing the following changes.

Changes:

. Increase the block break of basic attacks.

. Increase the area of its attack and the number of units it may hit. This serves to increase its overall AoE damage.

Poleaxe

Ideas for Changes:

Increase damage against units to better reflect the power that comes with wielding a 2-handed weapon.

Changes:

. Greatly increase the block break of basic attacks and skills.

. [The Old Billhook]: Slow raised to 40% (up from 20%).

. Added a new dismount skill [Power Cleave]: Roll of your mount and launch a Power Cleave, dealing 200% of your base slashing damage, while also knocking enemies down.

Maul

Ideas for Changes:

The Maul is currently too strong when it comes to breaking the enemy's formation. But it also requires the player to master the usage of Stamina. And so we are making adjustments to this.

Changes:

. [Fast Forward]: Increase the stamina cost when running. Can no longer run once stamina has been depleted.

. [Combat Grapple]: Increase the stamina cost of running after having grappled an enemy.

. Reduce the block break of some basic attacks and skills:

. Reduce the block break of the first and second hits of [Maelstrom I/II/III].

. Reduce the block break of the first and second hits of [Up from Hel I/II/III].

. Increase stamina recovery speed by 10%.

Spear

Ideas for Changes:

Based on player feedback and gameplay data, we have learned that the Spear's burst damage exceeds our expectations, and so we are making the following adjustments.

Changes:

. [Full Tilt Charge]: Can no longer maintain charge once the mount's endurance has been depleted.

. [Dismounting Strike]: The skill's hit box has been changed to better conform to the visual effect, as seen from the images below:

Hit box before change:

Hit box after change:

. [Procris's Gift]: Block break reduced to 500 (down from 1,000).

. [Dragon's Roar I]: Reduce the base damage bonus to 350% (down from 367%), and its set damage to 4,183 (down from 4,783).

. [Dragon's Roar II]: Reduce the base damage bonus to 350% (down from 367%), and its set damage to 5,119 (down from 5,719).

. [Dragon's Roar III]: Reduce the base damage bonus to 350% (down from 367%), and its set damage to 6,055 (down from 6,655).

. Increase the block break of basic attacks.

Nodachi

Ideas for Changes:

Our goal is for Nodachi heroes to attempt to chain mechanics together, a profession of both high gain and high risk. And so we're thinking of making adjustments along the lines of Health Drain, Bloodcraze, and survivability.

Changes:

. Increase the block break of basic attacks.

. [Bloodcraze]: Grants 20% health steal, reduces damage taken by 15%, and increases movement speed by 10% during its duration.

. [Monstrous Blade I]: Each hit on an enemy transfer 5% of the damage taken by your enemy to your health for 12 seconds. [Health Drain] and [Bloodcraze] effects are also consumed. Each stack of [Health Drain] grants an extra 5% health steal, and [Bloodcraze] grants an extra 30% health steal. Bloodcraze caps out at 45% health steal.

Extra Effect: Consumes [Health Drain]/[Bloodcraze] effects and converts them into health. Recover 200 health per second for each stack of [Health Drain] and 1200 health per second for [Bloodcraze]. The healing lasts for 4 seconds, and caps out at 1800 health per second.

. [Monstrous Blade II]: Each hit on an enemy transfer 10% of the damage taken by your enemy to your health for 12 seconds.

The healing lasts for 4 seconds, and caps out at 1800 health per second.

. [Monstrous Blade III]: Each hit on an enemy transfer 15% of the damage taken by your enemy to your health for 12 seconds.

The healing lasts for 4 seconds, and caps out at 1800 health per second.

. [Dragon's Leap]'s damage is dealt faster, and its range has been adjusted as below:

Hit box before change:

Hit box after change:

Dual Blades

Ideas for Changes:

Dual Blades are currently performing well. [Ambush] used from stealth does however have a bit too high armour penetration, and so we are adjusting that.

Changes:

. [Ambush]: Reduce the armour penetration by 30%.

Unification Changes

Ideas for Changes:

According to game data and player feedback, the current iteration of skills that [reduce enemy's defence] are overtuned across the board, which has led to [defence] having a fairly low value. With more and more seasonal units being available, Warlord survivability has taken a hit, and so we are making the following changes.

Changes:

Spear

. The [This attack punctures the target's armour, reducing their defense] of [Overhead Strike] and [Dragon's Roar] has been replaced with: 'Each hit increases your armour penetration by 2% and reduces your damage taken by 2%, stacking up to 10 times'.

. [Gungnir's Greeting] no longer reduces the defence of enemies hit, and the extra effect of [Gungnir's Greeting I] has been changed to: 'Each hit increases your armour penetration by 2% and reduces your damage taken by 2%, stacking up to 10 times'.

Bow

. Enemies hit by [Bodkin-Tipped I] have their defence reduced by 10% (down from 30%).

. Enemies hit by [Bodkin-Tipped II] have their defence reduced by 20% (down from 40%).

. Enemies hit by [Bodkin-Tipped III] have their defence reduced by 30% (down from 50%).

Short Bow

. Enemies hit by [Steel-tipped Arrow II] have their defence reduced by 20% (down from 30%).

. Enemies hit by [Steel-tipped Arrow III] have their defence reduced by 20% (down from 30%).

All Professions

. Base health increased by 2,500.

 Technology: Available at level 25 (was 18)
